Giving a New Opportunity: a Bilingual School for Adult Learners — Built in 2 Months
High School Gate is a Florida-registered private online high school for adult learners worldwide—especially those who are less affluent or underprivileged—teaching in English or Arabic. It needed one platform to run the whole school—from an applicant’s first question to a verifiable U.S. high school diploma. BadrLabs designed, built, and documented that platform, including complete bilingual English and Arabic support, a public AI assistant, and full right-to-left Arabic layouts.

The challenge
High School Gate needed a platform built around its full diploma program. Students apply, pay registration and tuition fees, take placement tests, and complete orientation before starting their assigned courses. They must earn at least 60% in each course to receive credit toward their 18-credit diploma. The platform had to support that entire journey, giving staff control over admissions, payment requirements, course access, academic terms, grades, and diploma issuance.
The school also teaches in English and Arabic, so bilingual support had to extend to every lesson, quiz, PDF, and official document. Arabic content needed proper right-to-left formatting, with particular care to keep mathematical notation displaying correctly. Students in the Arabic track also needed diplomas in both languages.
Alongside the student experience, administrators, teachers, and coordinators needed comprehensive tools to manage live classes, one-on-one sessions, payments, and student progress.
Finally, High School Gate needed an AI assistant to answer prospective student queries, as well as help students with their course work.
Inside the product

From a student
“After more than 10 years of being away from studying, I took my first steps today toward inclination and achieving the dream. Today I realized that time does not kill dreams, and that a late start is better than never starting at all. Thanks to God first, then thanks to High School Gate, I have started to regain my passion for learning, and I am taking a new step toward a dream I thought was a distant hope. This is just the first step… and the best is yet to come, God willing.”
How it came together
We started with a research phase covering tools, cost at scale, architecture, and risks before choosing a stack. Then we shipped in small pull requests, each tied to a contracted capability, and translated client tickets into fixes to those capabilities rather than new products.
Researched build-versus-buy, tool costs at launch and at scale, the target architecture, and a risk register before committing to the stack
Designed an edge-first setup: separate Cloudflare Workers for the web app, backend Core, and AI—linked by service bindings—with Neon Postgres and modular business logic in Core
Built the full student journey: waitlist, admissions and fee payment through Stripe, placement tests, an orientation gate, courses, lessons and quizzes with retakes until 60%, Mux video, live classes, and one-on-ones
Delivered full English and Arabic support with right-to-left layouts and readable maths in quizzes, a RAG-powered public assistant (Mr. Gate), and term close-out with transcripts and bilingual diplomas verified by QR code—then handed over a full developer and customer onboarding pack
